Live coral shipping requires more planning than an ordinary package. Gem State Corals schedules livestock shipments around carrier service, weather and safe arrival conditions.

Our coral shipping schedule

Live corals normally ship Monday through Wednesday. This reduces the chance of a package being held over a weekend. Holidays, unsafe weather or carrier limitations can require a different date.

Professional packing

Corals are secured, heat-sealed and placed in insulated packaging. Temperature-control materials are selected according to the forecast at origin, destination and major transit points.

Weather holds protect livestock

Orders may be held when temperatures are below 25°F, above 95°F or otherwise unsafe. A weather hold does not cancel the order. We coordinate the next reasonable shipping date.

Prepare for delivery

  • Use a complete address that accepts carrier deliveries.
  • Monitor tracking once the package ships.
  • Be available to receive the box promptly.
  • Have acclimation supplies and aquarium space ready.
  • Inspect the shipment immediately and follow the claim procedure if needed.

Shipping prices and free shipping

Available shipping rates are shown at checkout. Qualifying coral orders of $350 or more receive free nationwide coral shipping under the current promotion. Dry goods may ship separately from their manufacturer and do not follow the livestock shipping schedule.

Service availability and delivery estimates depend on the destination and carrier. The available method is confirmed during checkout and shipping coordination.

Will you ship during extreme weather?

Not when conditions create an unreasonable livestock risk. We will coordinate a safer date.

Do dry goods ship with corals?

Usually not. Manufacturer-direct equipment and supplies can arrive separately.
