LPS Coral Buying Guide

LPS corals are known for large, fleshy polyps and vivid movement. Many prefer moderate lighting and moderate, indirect flow, but requirements vary by species.

Lighting

Start conservatively and acclimate gradually. Avoid placing a new LPS directly under intense light.

Flow

Use enough flow to gently move tissue without blasting or folding the coral against its skeleton.

Compatibility

Allow room for sweeper tentacles. Torches and other aggressive LPS can sting nearby corals.

Read our torch coral placement and compatibility guide.

Care needs vary by coral. Review the individual listing and contact Gem State Corals if you need placement or compatibility help before ordering.
